Our Story

The Old Town Red Rooster Cafe is committed to providing great food with the best ingredients available and the highest level of friendly customer service.

In October of 2010 … Good friends Shane Smith and Jet Tennant teamed up to open and operate the Old Town Red Rooster Cafe. In time, they turned their little cafe into a local favorite in Old Town. In 2015, Jet and Shane decided to continue their successes separately. Shane’s Uncle Jim stepped in and moved here from NYC to run the Red Rooster with Shane. Shane set sail for Florida in 2023 and now Jim, Erin, Cierra, and Mitchell are running the coop!

We support local, small businesses, sourcing eggs local produce where possible. The Rooster has been recognized in Verde independent’s KUDOS section with a “Readers Choice Award,” for Best Organic Restaurant and in October 2011, Phoenix Magazine Listed them as one of the “Top Ten New Restaurants in the State.”

The Arizona Republic did an article featuring their desserts, and the best compliment of all is that the Rooster has a strong regular customer base, many of them eating in the restaurant several times a week.
